My Skin Care Routine (Updated January 2013)

Hi There!! ^_^

I can’t believe it has been so long since I last posted! O_o  This past year has been a roller coaster ride for me.  I’ve been constantly getting sick, and it was hard to take care of my health, work a full-time job, adjust to my first year of marriage, have a social life, AND blog / make videos.  I definitely commend all the Bloggers and YouTubers who are able to do it all!  AMAZING!!

Thankfully, i am recovering, taking it day by day…and I am SUPER EXCITED to be Blogging and YouTubing again!

Everyday is a blessing, and I can’t let my bad health hinder my LOVE for beauty & style and sharing it with the rest of the world.

So today I want to share with you My Updated Skin Care Routine!
(If you haven’t watched my first Skin Care Video, you can check it out here.)

Since I am a Skin Care FANATIC, I love experimenting and trying new products. Compared to my old routine, I am currently using some new products that I haven’t mentioned before, along with a few of the same products in my other video.

My Skin Type – normal / a bit sensitive / dry (especially during winter time) / oily T-Zone area (during the summer)

Night Skin Care Routine

Morning Skin Care Routine

However, even though I love skin care and taking care of my skin…I sometimes dread my routine at night, especially when I’m tired. Since I am so anal about making sure that I wash my face at night and that all of my makeup is removed, it can take about 15 minutes from start to finish. Is there anyone else out there who is just as anal as me? *crickets chirping* Anyone? :P

If you like any of the products I mentioned and are interested in trying them out, please let me know how it goes! OR if you own any of the same products, how do you like them?

Thanks so much for reading! <3

Fall Outfit – Stripes, Boots, & Knit Cardigan

It has been gorgeous weather here in Chicago. :D  Except for the occasional rain, temperatures have been in the 40’s and 50’s the past few weeks.  To some of you it might seem unbearably cold, but for Chicagoans, it is considered decent Fall weather. :P

I absolutely love Fall (except for seasonal allergies of course).  Leaves changing colors, cozy sweaters, chai tea lattes, and the start of the holiday season!  What’s not to love?  Maybe I’m being too positive and forgetting that Fall leads to Winter, which means freezing temps and icy roads??… :X

However, the weather has been strangely warm this weekend (60’s in November),  and I wanted to share with you a relaxing Fall outfit.

Today, I paired a fitted striped tank with a knit cardigan, jeans, and camel-colored boots.  Since I am petite AND curvy, it is hard to find knit sweaters and cardigans that don’t overwhelm my size, which is why I love to pair them with a tight fitted tank or tee underneath and tight fitted pants.  I also wore some gold and neutral-colored bracelets.

Today’s Outfit

Striped Tank :: Urban Outfitters

Knit Cardigan :: YEVS

Jeans :: Forever 21

Boots :: Japan

Bracelets :: Banana Republic & H&M

Waterproof Eyeliner Comparison

, , , , , ,

Sorry for my lack of posts recently.  I was on vacation the past week and had no internet service. :X  I have no idea how we survived before internet…lol.. :P

During my vacation, I got a chance to test out different waterproof eyeliners!

PRODUCTS MENTIONED: (Listed from Top to Bottom in the Pics Below)

  1. L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail 16 hr. Eyeliner in Carbon Black (drugstore)
  2. PRESTIGE Waterproof Automatic Eyeliner in Smoke (drugstore)
  3. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Lionfish (‘high end’)
  4. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Baked (high end’)
  5. PRESTIGE Waterproof Eyeliner in Black (drugstore)
  6. Milani Liquid-Eye Metalic Eyeliner Pencil in Black (drugstore)
Waterproof Eyeliners – BEFORE

Waterproof Eyeliners – AFTER

Although all of them faded at least a tiny bit, the TOP 3 Waterproof Eyeliners that stood the best against the heat, sun, and water all day were…

  • #3. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Lionfish (‘high end’)
  • #5. PRESTIGE Waterproof Eyeliner in Black (drugstore)
  • #6. Milani Liquif’eye Metalic Eyeliner Pencil in Black (drugstore)
As you can see, you don’t need to pay more money for quality products. Drugstore brands work just as well as ‘higher end’ brands, if not better.  It is always a good idea to test different brands and see how they compare (taking into consideration price and quality).  That way, you can see if a ‘high end’ product is actually worth its price.

I hope you found this helpful!  And if you have any Waterproof eyeliners that you LOVE, please share!  I am always looking for more to try. :D

And now, a few pics from my vacation to Los Cabos, Mexico (via cruise ship)! ;P

on the boat enjoying a delicious tropical drink…love the tiny umbrellas

walking on the beautiful beach! the white sand and blue waters are breathtaking!

in front of a gift shop with lots of colorful items!! love the bright colors :D they match my shirt :P

And until my next post…ADIOS!

7 Skin Care Secrets

, , , , , ,

Hello there!

Today, it’s all about SKIN CARE!  In case you didn’t know, I am obsessed with taking good care of my skin AND helping others with their skin care needs.  Although my skin is far from perfect (no one’s skin is), here are 7 Skin Care Secrets that I follow to help me maintain a clear complexion.

7 Skin Care Secrets

  1. After cleansing with warm water, remember to splash cold water on your face  (before applying any make-up).  The warm water opens up your pores and allows them to get cleaned, and the cold water closes your pores so that the products won’t clog your pores.
  2. Change your bedsheets and bath towels frequently, especially your pillow cases (I suggest once a week).  Bacteria and dust can accumulate and can cause your skin to break out or become irritated.
  3. Don’t touch your face.  Did you know that the average person touches their face 16 times per waking hour?!  Your hands have been everywhere and aren’t always properly cleaned.  Also, try not to pick at blemishes or blackheads.  It will only make them worse!
  4. Jojoba Oil and Grapseed Oil are great for dry AND oily skin.  You can either apply it right onto your skin, or add a few drops to your moisturizer first.  A great thing about these oils is that they won’t clog your pores, so you don’t need to worry about breaking out!  Both of these oils help moisturize dry skin, AND they help oily skin in a good way.  If you have oily skin, you don’t want to use products that dry out your skin, because oiliness is a reaction to skin that is too dry, which can cause you to break out.  These oils help balance your skin out.  I suggest applying these oils only at night since they can make your face look shiny.
  5. ALWAYS wash your face at night before going to bed!  You’ve already been wearing your make-up for practically the entire day, and you’ve accumulated a lot of dirt and oil.  If you are too tired [or lazy like me some nights], I recommend keeping a pack of make-up and dirt remover towelettes by your bed.  I prefer the fragrance-free and oil-free ones since they are less irritating.
  6. Clean your phone at least once a week.  Like your hands, your phone has been everywhere and has a lot of bacteria all over it.  When you bring it up to your face, all of these germs touch your face and can cause breakouts as well.  I suggest cleaning it with an alcohol pad.
  7. Drink lots of water.  Mayo Clinic suggested an “8X8 Guideline” – 8 glasses, 8 ounces of water daily.  If you don’t stay hydrated, your skin can look dry and wrinkled!  It helps if you keep a bottle of water with your wherever you go so that you can stay hydrated throughout the day.  Even those mini bottles can be tucked away in your bag (and like me, you probably carry a decent sized bag with your life in it).
Hope you found these tips helpful!!
